Never is too late for an iPhone 4S ;)

After facing the ubiquitous Apple iPhone 4S (iOS) vs. Samsung Galaxy S2 (Android) dilemma, I resolved that the Cupertino designed hardware will be my first smartphone. In my hands, the S2 feels alarmingly thin and flimsy. I know that it's only a matter of perception, but I really don't feel comfortable with it. So in my case, the iPhone 4S is the way to go :) A short visit to the Apple Store and it's done! The beast sits gently on my desk...

After a careful unpacking and iTunes sync test, I had to cut my Simyo/KPN Spain SIM card using a MicroSIM cutter (borrowed from a friend) to put the phone online ;)

Following a recommendation from a colleague, I've been testing an iOS application called NodeBeat (Nodebeat HD in iPad). Nodebeat is a music sequencer that uses a simplistic but inspired node based interface to create moody tunes. Here's an excerpt from the creator's website:

Generators and Notes make up the two types of nodes. Generators pulse and play Notes within proximity. A Note is played in sequence, based on the distance it is from its connected Generator. Pause nodes to create your own beats or let them roam free to have them generate their own.
After connecting my iPad to my Hi-Fi equipment and spending some time with it, all I can say is that playing with this application is one of the most relaxing and rewarding experiences I've had for a long time. Try it... You won't be disappointed!

I keep working (slowly) on my LEX Light CV860A. Now, I've cleaned the aluminium heatshink and replaced the stock CPU cooler fan with a new "ultra quiet" Noiseblocker XM-1 fan (40mm. diameter / 11dBA.). Here are some photos of the process:

I bought recently a Microsoft Xbox 360 wired controller for Windows. I mainly use it for playing with arcade and SNES/Genesis emulators on my laptop, and I have to say that it works very nice! Excellent build quality and very responsive. It can be used directly on Xbox 360 console. Great when your wireless controller runs out of battery!
